About Acre Gold

Acre Gold Review

Acre Gold was founded in 2019 with the goal of helping more individuals to be able to invest in gold. They wanted to make gold more affordable to allow more people to enjoy the benefits of owning gold.

Acre Gold works differently than most other precious metals investment companies. Rather than purchasing expensive gold bars and coins all at once, which is unattainable for so many individuals, they offer special subscription plans. (We'll go into these plans in more detail below.)

When you sign up for a subscription plan and accumulate enough, your gold bar will be delivered to your door. Acre Gold discretely packages all shipments to protect your investment and make sure your gold bar arrives safely to you.

According to Acre Gold's website, a team of fintech veterans founded the company. Acre Gold has offices in Santa Monica, California and Boise, Idaho.

The company is also backed by Science Inc., the same company that backed Dollar Shave Club.

If you haven't heard of Acre Gold before, the website offers a timeline highlighting some of the most important events in the company's history. These include:

  • January 2019: Acre Gold was founded
  • February 2019: Acre Gold introduced its subscription program, allowing individuals to purchase 2.5 gram gold bars with a small $30 monthly investment.
  • June 2019: Acre Gold changed the monthly investment amount to $50 to help customers build up their gold supply more quickly.
  • September 2020: The company offered an additional monthly subscription offer where individuals could save up for 5 gram gold bars by investing $100 per month.
  • October 2021: Yet another subscription offer was introduced: now individuals could invest $250 per month to save up for a 10 gram gold bar.

How Acre Gold Works

Acre Gold Review

As we shared above, Acre Gold aims to make it easy and affordable for anyone to own gold. Their main subscription program costs just $50 each month. When you sign up, $50 will be charged to your account every month.

Over time, your investment will add up to enough to own a 2.5-gram Acre Gold-branded gold bar. Once you've invested enough to cover the price of the bar, Acre Gold will ship it to you.

Acre Gold leaves you in control of your account. You can modify or cancel your plan whenever you desire.

Acre Gold charges a one-time membership fee of $12.

When you're ready to get your subscription set up, just click on the "Get Started" button on the top of the homepage. Add the 2.5 gram gold bar to your cart (or sign up for multiple subscriptions), and then checkout. To complete your subscription, you'll need to enter your name, email, and address. Then, verify your information and finalize the subscription; it's that easy!

Additional Subscription Options

Acre Gold Review

After the initial success with their $50 per month subscription plan, Acre Gold decided to offer their customers additional subscription options. You can also choose to invest $100 per month towards owning a 5 gram gold bar or $250 per month towards owning a 10 gram gold bar.

Payment Options

When you sign up for your subscription plan, you'll need to enter your payment information. Acre Gold accepts Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. Should you decide to change your payment information after your subscription has started, you can contact the company to do so.

Gold Bar Highlights

Acre Gold's gold bars offer a tasteful and modern design. Each bar bears the company's logo, the purity level, and the serial number on the front. The backside of the bar features a pattern of alternative Acre Gold logos, giving it a unique, yet classy appearance.

The gold bars and packaged in tamper-evident cases to help ensure their authenticity. Each 2.5 gram bar is made using .9999 fine gold. Your gold bar will come neatly packed in a soft-touch box with display drawer for added safe-keeping and elegance.

Acre Gold Golden Bullet

Acre Gold Review

Acre Gold recently introduced their golden bullet, available for direct purchase. This 24-karat bullet is .9999 pure and made in the United States.

The bullet weights approximately 33 grams. This is a rare offering; Acre Gold is only making 1,000 bullets, and they are currently the only company to offer this type of product.

Are There Any Red Flags for Acre Gold?

Acre Gold Review

Now you know more about what Acre Gold is and what they have to offer. Let's take a look a whether there are any red flags for the company. To help determine whether there was anything that seemed off about the company, we decided to check with some of our favorite review websites: the Better Business Bureau, the Business Consumer Alliance, TrustLink, Trustpilot, and Google.

The company is only a few years old and we weren't expecting to find tons of user reviews. However, we were a bit disappointed that we couldn't find any reviews from customers on these sites.

Additionally, Acre Gold only has a C+ rating from the BBB, which isn't very good. There are many other precious metals investment companies that have earned and maintained an A+ rating from the BBB.

  • Better Business Bureau: C+ rating; not a BBB accredited business
  • Business Consumer Alliance: Not rated
  • TrustLink: Not rated
  • Trustpilot: Not rated
  • Google: Not rated

Is Acre Gold a Scam?

Acre Gold Review

No, we wouldn't say that Acre Gold is a scam. While they are a newer company that has only been around since 2019, they appear to offer the products and services advertised on the website.

Should you give your business to Acre Gold? Well, that is up to you. If we were looking to invest our own money in gold, though, we probably wouldn't choose to work with Acre Gold. There are a few reasons we would choose one of our top-recommended companies instead.

First, we are concerned that Acre Gold only has a C+ rating from the BBB. When you consider all of the other precious metals investment companies that have an A+ rating, it makes you wonder why Acre Gold is rated so poorly.

When we visited the BBB's website, we also noticed that there have been 31 complaints filed against the company over the past three years. This is quite a few complaints over just three years. 20 of the complaints were about problems with a product or service, four were related to advertising and sales, three centered around billing and collections issues, and four cited problems with shipments and deliveries.

Acre Gold's approach to offering gold subscriptions is appealing. However, we wish that they offered more options for different investment levels. According to the website, you can only choose to invest $50, $100, or $250 a month. There may be some individuals who would like to invest more each month. Additionally, you can only invest towards smaller gold bars (maximum of 10 grams). If you want to work your way up to owning a gold coin or a 1 oz or larger gold bar, that won't be an option with Acre Gold.

The subscription offer is really all that Acre Gold seems to offer. You don't have the option to purchase coins or bars outright, and, as we mentioned above, they don't offer a lot of different investment options. A few other precious metals investment companies offer similar subscription plans, but also have a pretty extensive selection of coins and bars available to purchase.

Acre Gold also only offers gold. You won't have the opportunity to invest in silver, platinum, or palladium with this company.

Features

  • You can sign up for $50, $100, or $250 per month subscriptions to purchase gold bars.
  • View your progress towards owning the entire bar on the website.
  • Once the amount you've invested through your subscription matches the price of the gold bar, Acre Gold will ship it to you.
  • You can cancel or change your subscription whenever you'd like.
  • Acre Gold also offers logo t-shirts.
  • You can also purchase a golden 24-karat bullet, the first custom product from Acre Gold.
  • Science Inc., the same company that backed Dollar Shave Club, backs Acre Gold.

Pros & Cons of Acre Gold

Pros:

  • You can work your way towards owning gold by only spending a few dollars a day.
  • After you pay enough to cover the price of the gold bar, Acre Gold will ship it to you.
  • Subscription plans can be cancelled or modified at any time.

Cons:

  • Acre Gold only has a C+ rating from the BBB.
  • There have been 31 complaints filed against the company with the BBB over the past three years.
  • You can only invest in gold bars, gold coins or silver, platinum, or palladium pieces are not an option.

Final Verdict

That's Acre Gold in a nutshell. Now that you've learned more about the company and how their subscription plans work, what's your plan? Are you heading over to Acre Gold's website to sign up for a subscription, or would you prefer to learn more about some of the other precious metals companies that are out there? We think you may be interested in some of our top recommendations that come with many more positive customer reviews and higher ratings from the BBB than what you'll find with Acre Gold, but the choice is up to you!
